Workshop Cycles is an innovative way to experience Sunday School that takes seriously the spiritual development of children while providing exciting activities to engage them in a new level of learning and retention.  A rotation-style model means that children work on the same story or concept for several weeks, using different learning approaches in each workshop room they visit.

FOR TEACHERS AND VOLUNTEERS this model is EASIER!  An individual signs up to teach one 4–6 week cycle in a particular area—music, art, storytelling, cooking, gardening, etc. For instance, someone might be great in the kitchen or with arts and crafts and be willing to teach that particular workshop for the cycle.  Some volunteers can help read stories, hand out supplies, show videos, or make popcorn.  SHEPHERDS travel with their class through different workshops but never have to prepare or teach a lesson.  So there is something for everyone, at whatever skill level you fit.

No more year-long commitments to be involved in the faith formation of our young people will be sought.  We are looking for interested volunteers who are willing to commit to a four- or five-week Workshop Cycle.

Come on Sunday, September 9 at 9:05 a.m. and meet your teachers and register for the new program year at church school.  Pre-K through elementary school will all gather in the large nursery school room for registration.  It is important that we have this information so we can assign our Tribes for the coming year.  The first class of Sunday Church School will take place the following week, September 16.

We can always use helpers.  Please see Pastor Judith for more information or come to our Teacher/Assistant Orientation gathering on Wednesday, September 5 at 7 p.m. to learn more about this ministry to our children.

We are now using all three phases of the Journey To Adulthood Program for grades 6 through 12.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Christian Formation provides an additional experience for our young children at 10:15 a.m.  The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is offered during the 10:15 worship service in the Nursery room.

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a spiritual formation program for children ages 3-6.  It is based on the principle that children have a deep spiritual relationship with God.  We need only provide the vocabulary and environment to help them express that relationship.

Sandy Harding, Jennifer Pammer, and Lyn Danni guide the children through story presentations, related work, and life skill activities.
